Should knees go over toes?

Yes — and it is completely natural.

The idea that knees should never pass over the toes has been largely debunked by modern sports medicine research. Every time you climb stairs, squat down, or stand up from a chair your knees naturally travel forward past your toes. That is how the movement is designed to work.

Restricting the knee from passing over the toe does not eliminate load — it just shifts it to the hip and lower back instead.

On the VelorBoard the knee naturally travels forward as you stand on the incline. The angle loads the quad and calf through a functional range of motion that mirrors everyday movement and builds the surrounding muscle strength that keeps the knee protected.

That said — any movement that increases your knee pain or causes discomfort should be stopped immediately. Everyone's body is different and what feels natural and pain free for one person may not be appropriate for another depending on their specific condition or injury history. Always start at the lowest angle on the VelorBoard and only progress when each position feels completely comfortable.

If you are recovering from a knee injury or surgery we always recommend checking with your doctor or physical therapist before starting any new movement routine.

What is the 2.0 vs Duo model?

What a Few Minutes a Day Can Do

  • Builds the quadriceps strength that keeps your knees stable and pain-free during everyday movement.

  • Restores the range of motion you need to walk, climb stairs, and get up off the floor without stiffness.

  • Stretches the areas that cause aching knees, hips, legs, feet, and lower back — so the pain you feel every day starts to fade.

  • A stronger lower body means more confidence on your feet and a lower risk of slips and falls.

  • Eccentric loading helps tendons and muscles repair, so you bounce back quicker from activity.

  • Strong legs are the cheapest insurance against falls, blown-out knees, and the surgeries that follow. A few minutes a day now beats months of recovery later.

Stretch. Strengthen. Restore.

Why the Velor Board's Incline Matters

Quads & VMO Activation

Quads & VMO Activation

The incline shifts your body weight into the front of your thighs, activating the inner quad muscle that stabilizes and protects your knee joint with every step.

Deep Calf & Achilles Release

Deep Calf & Achilles Release

The angled surface stretches the lower calf and Achilles tissue that wall stretches and foam rollers can't reach — the area responsible for ankle stiffness and knee tension.

Hip & Lower Back Mobility

Hip & Lower Back Mobility

The incline position gently opens the hip flexors and mobilizes the joint, so your hips do their job and your lower back stops compensating for them.

Flexibility & Balance

Flexibility & Balance

Elevated heel positioning restores dorsiflexion — the ankle movement you lose from years of flat shoes and sitting — improving balance and reducing strain on your knees with every stride.

Common Questions

How long does it take to feel a difference?

Most customers notice less morning stiffness within the first 2 weeks. By week 4, everyday movements like stairs, walking, and standing up tend to feel noticeably easier.

Should knees go over your toes?

Recent research and physical therapy practices show that allowing the knees to move slightly over the toes is actually natural and often necessary for healthy knee movement.

Your knees go past your toes during many everyday activities like walking downhill, climbing stairs, or getting up from a chair. The key is doing it in a controlled way that gradually strengthens the muscles and tendons around the knee.

The Velor Board helps with this by creating a safe, controlled incline that gently loads the knees, ankles, and calves. This helps strengthen the quadriceps, patellar tendon, and surrounding support muscles, which are important for knee stability and long-term joint health.

If you’re new to it, you can always start with smaller movements or partial squats and gradually increase your range as your knees get stronger.

How long do I need to use it each day?

2-10 minutes is all you need. Step on it while your coffee brews, do a few stretches or slow squats, and you're done. No routine to memorize, no time commitment.

Can beginners safely use the Velor Board?

Absolutely! The Velor Board is designed with adjustable angles, making it suitable and safe for beginners, seniors, and those with limited mobility to easily start gentle, effective stretching.

What if it doesn't work for me?

Every board comes with a 30-day money-back guarantee. Use it daily for a month. If you don't feel a difference, send it back for a full refund. No questions, no hassle.
